iGO Primo 9.6.7.235654 Not saving details
Hi Guys,

Hope you smarter fellows can help me with an issue that is driving me nuts. Recently purchased a double DIN chinese all-in-one head unit for my WRX. Fitted and works great. Has Android as a seperate operating system - this is where the GPS function runs from. I can start iGO GPS and have to go through language selection etc every powerup. I can't seem to save user profiles or any other settings. Have pulled the microsd card and can read/write to it via PC.

Have changed the sys.txt file to reflect the iGo software loacation SD card (ie mntsdcard/iGO). Have also renamed the Save file, and re-booted. However it doesn't seem to have re-created another Save file?

I am at a total loss... ideas?

thanks

Can you se the EXIT button from within IGO?
Use that to exit a couple of times before turning off. That should give it time to save before the power supply turns off.

RE: iGO Primo 9.6.7.235654 Not saving details
Hi Baz,

I have tried that a few times... still no good. I can write to the SD card through android (ie change the folder name - save), so I am having a hard time understanding why the app won't work properly.

As you can imiagine, it makes the software fairly useless as no-one wants to have to setup from scratch every power up.. plus it loses it's location if navigatiing and you stop the vehicle for fuel etc...

No mention of data in the current sys file?

Should the data command be changed to the directory data="/mntsdcard/iGO" perhaps?

also slash or backslash?

Thank you for your help... not real competent with Android systems...

RE: iGO Primo 9.6.7.235654 Not saving details
@ BulletMaster

It seems to me that your problem lies in the power wiring between the device and the car's electrics/electronics circuitry. Generally 2DIN units have 2 sparate 12 V power inputs, one through the ignition switch to turn the device on when you start the car, and the other one direct to the car battery, to keep part of the system memory, which includes the RTC, start-up settings, etc. alive, while the rest of the unit is shut down.

If you mix up the wiring or connect both to the ignition switch, you then lose the ability for the unit to start up with the previously set up settings.

RE: iGO Primo 9.6.7.235654 Not saving details
Hi ulyssy,

I do understand the 2 sources required (switched and unswitched). If I had no unswitched, the winCE portion of the head unit would keep resetting back to base settings too. I am actually an electrician that works on auto as well.

This is not happening (time is correct etc..). Android is a seperate O/S that boots as the unit powers up, DVD/Bluetooth/Radio etc are WinCE controlled. Android controls the GPS function, plus operates as a browser/apps etc...

Android O/S doesn't seem to have it's own internal powersupply, as it doesnt maintain the clock setting - it gets set everytime I power up and connect to my wireless network.

I will doublecheck tomorrow - but 99% sure it is correct.

This is the unit I have:

Also,

This still doesn't explain why if I rename the Save folder to something else, and then load iGO, why doesn't it automatically re-create another SAVE folder?

Driving me crazy!!!

RE: iGO Primo 9.6.7.235654 Not saving details
Righto... tried using data="/mnt/extsdcard/iGO" - no difference.

Then tried changing the linked root list to include the following /mnt/extsd/iGO \mnt\extsdcard\iGO /extsd/iGO \extsd\iGO

Still no difference...

Then tried re-installing the iGo package from the SD card, it said it had done so successfully, but still no change - not creating the SAVE directory. Used the shutdown link from within the iGO software to exit at all times...

If I go to Android file manger, I can rename folders on that SD card with no problem at all.. I can even view the sys.txt file.

Man this is definitely doing my head in.

RE: iGO Primo 9.6.7.235654 Not saving details
I'd try a different version of Primo.

After trying to get a version working on Nexus7. I went for the latest and finally found one to handle the resolution but could not get TTS working.

Tried an older version and it worked without any changing anything just had the correct settings and away it went.

Very frustrating but the circles eventually get smaller.

RE: iGO Primo 9.6.7.235654 Not saving details
Hi Some-One:

I am a newbie on this site /tablet technology and am NOT sure how to start a new post.

Just bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0:
Q1: is there an android app for Nav n Go igo8
Q2: Can it be used like a hand-held GPS system where you do not need internet connection.

I already have a hand-held GPS system in my car and I just plug the charger to the cigarette lighter slot and use the GPS without internet connection.

Sorry for my ignorance!!! If some-one can help me PLEASE!!
